I am very excited to share Nick and Sarah's stunning pink and green rustic wedding at Summit Hall! These two were a wonderful couple to photograph. They were married at the Reynolda Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem and ended the festivities at the Summit Dining Hall.
I asked Sarah to tell me a little bit about how the two of them met. Here's their romantic story!
Nick and I met our freshmen year of college at UNC Wilmington. We lived in the same dorm on the same hallway. Before we even realized we lived on the same hallway, Nick randomly walked up to me in the cafeteria and asked if he could eat lunch with me. We quickly came to realize we had a great deal in common; our hearts were in the same place, the mountains. We liked the same music, had a strong family background, enjoyed the outdoors, and we were both the babies of our family. Our relationship was amazing and I soon realized my life would be empty without him. Over the next two years we traveled a long and bumpy road because Nick was battling Ulerative Colitis. He was finally set free from the disease after he had a life altering surgery to remove the organ that caused the disease and answered our prayers. After we graduated college, we were forced to face reality and get jobs in the real world, so we moved closer to where we grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. One Friday afternoon in late August on a hike at Stone Mountain State Park, Nick got down on one knee when we reached the top of the mountain. He had hiked up to the top the day before and hung pictures of our favorite memories throughout our five year relationship from a small tree near the edge of the mountain. I am proudly wearing his grandmother's ring!
Their wedding definitely reflected the beautiful relationship and their love of their family. All of Nick and Sarah's family played a huge role in the decor of the venue, creating completely incredible do-it-yourself centerpieces out of antiques and rustic pieces. Flower arrangements and music was all provided at the help of the amazing people in their lives. Special shout out to the Maid of Honor, Sarah's sister, who rocked that wedding while being 8 months pregnant - and looked pretty great while she was at it! See for yourself in my favorite images of Nick and Sarah's rustic wedding!
Huge thank you to Stephen Thrift for second shooting with me and Yvonnia Johnson for being such a fabulous assistant!
